The holidays are over and now the focus turns to the massive amounts of work on your desk. Meetings upon meetings to plan,  site visits to attend, and budgets to balance. With all of the calls and emails coming in, how do you get through it? Here are five tips that might help:

Prioritize
In busy times like these, you have to make sure what’s first, comes first. Take a look at around you and prioritize. A simple check-list can help you to plot items from important to not-so-important. Sometimes, with managing multiple events, it may help to tackle your events in chronological order.

Delegate
Sometimes it is the little things that can make you crazy. So, why not delegate those small menial tasks to someone that has the dispensable time to do them? If possible, have your partner help you cross-check your rooming list, or your kids stuff registration packets. Do what you need to do to get the job done.

Outsource
Sometimes delegation can only work so much. You might have a bigger chunk of your work that you need assistance with or might require more professional help. Outsourcing could be for you. There are many third-party planning companies that can assist planners with any component of a meeting.

Focus
You can’t do everything at once. So make sure that you are taking things step-by-step. Don’t get distracted by phone calls and emails that pop up as they will throw you off your task.

Hankerdown
We’ve all heard the saying “this too shall pass” – and it will. So, just grab some coffee and healthy snack, prepare for some long days (and possibly nights), and get through this busy season as best that you can. Remember, everyone is in the same boat, so you are not alone. Ohh – and don’t forget your post-it notes!
